Burglary of a building: Elijah Benavides, 19.

Burglary of a vehicle with two priors: Joshua Cansino, 22 (three times).

Domestic assault with prior: Sylvester Davila, 34; Sarah Burrola, 23.

Lubbock man in October police standoff indicted

A Lubbock County grand jury on Tuesday indicted a 30-year-old man accused in October of punching a police officer who was arresting him after an four-hour standoff.

James Nye is charged with a third-degree felony count of assault on a public servant and a second-degree felony count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by threat.

Lubbock police arrested Nye on Oct. 27 after a standoff with police that began about 1 a.m.

Garcia, accused in West Garza killing, among 3 indicted in separate homicide investigations

A Lubbock County grand jury returned indictments Tuesday against three people arrested in separate homicide investigations.

Enrique Cuvillier, 30, Pete Garcia Jr., 55, and Yvonne Gonzales are charged with murder.

Garcia is accused in the Feb. 7 shooting death of Lubbock and Levelland musician Orestes “West” Garza in the St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church parking lot.

Garza’s girlfriend, who was Garcia’s ex-wife, told investigators she saw Garcia chase Garza in the parking lot and shoot him in the back four times before driving away.

Man indicted in North Lubbock shooting

A Lubbock County grand jury indicted Tuesday a 24-year-old man arrested earlier this month in connection with a robbery that sent one man to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Diewon Cyphers is charged with a first-degree felony count of aggravated robbery.

Lubbock police investigators believe Cyphers shot Damorian Smith on Feb. 6 during a robbery in the 3600 block of Harvard Street.

Lubbock police responded to a call about two men fighting over a gun in a gold Oldsmobile vehicle, according to an arrest warrant.

Lubbock man allegedly caught stealing by home owner indicted for robbery

A 35-year-old man allegedly caught last month by a homeowner stealing from his North Lubbock residence was indicted Tuesday by a Lubbock County grand jury.

Adolfo Ybarra is charged with a second-degree felony count of robbery.

Lubbock police officials believe Ybarra assaulted Joe Williams on Feb. 8 after Ybarra was caught stealing from Williams’ home in the 2900 block of Colgate Street.

Lubbock mother accused of leaving children in filthy home indicted

A Lubbock County grand jury indicted a 25-year-old mother accused of leaving her four children in squalid conditions in a South Lubbock home.

Nancy Elaine Welch is charged with a state jail felony count of abandoning or endangering a child with intent to return.

Lubbock police responded about 7 p.m. Jan. 9 to a child neglect call at a residence in the 5500 block of 96th Street.

Officials said a neighbor called police after Welch’s 6- and 4-year-old children went to her home saying their mother had left them all day and they were hungry.

Second man in January Lubbock CVS robbery indicted

A Lubbock County grand jury indicted a second man arrested in connection with a January armed robbery at a South Lubbock pharmacy.

Tyler Knight, 19, is charged with a first-degree felony count of aggravated robbery.

Knight is one of three men accused in the Jan. 27 armed robbery at the 3401 82nd St. CVS pharmacy.

Employees said a man dressed in black threatened them at gunpoint and stole cough medicine, according to an arrest warrant.
